(G)I-DLE’s Minnie Explains Rumors About Her Rich Family, “I Don’t Use Parents’ Money”

On January 28th, the YouTube channel “CU Official” uploaded a new video featuring Miyeon and Minnie of (G)I-DLE.

In the video, Minnie said, “I heard many people saying ‘Minnie is rich and all that’”. Miyeon replied, “You’re rich, aren’t you!”.

Minnie reacted. “No, I’m not! There’s something I really want to clarify. I did live somewhat comfortably, but my parents didn’t completely support me financially or anything”. She added, “I don’t use my parents’ money”.

Miyeon said, “But the lyrics in ‘My Bag’ are all like that. Doesn’t that break the worldview?”, Minnie replied, “Soyeon wrote those”. She added, “I always say that I need a lot of money. I’m just acting according to the song. The lyrics were written that way so I act like that. But in reality, I need money too!”.

Regarding the anecdote of a fan getting champagne at the bar owned by Minnie’s brother, Minnie explained, “My brother owns a bar in Thailand. And fans know about it so they asked me, ‘Minnie, can I visit your brother’s bar when I go to Thailand?’, so I said, ‘Sure, I’ll write a PS for you and you can show it to my brother when you go to the bar to get free drinks’. But in the end, they didn’t show it. They were worried that my brother might actually give them drinks for free, so they just said they were a Neverver, and my brother just gave them champagne as a service”.

When Miyeon asked, “So in the end, your brother gifted them champagne, right? He treated them. Did you pay for it later?”, Minnie said, “No. He’s my brother, this much is fine. My brother is surprisingly a true young and rich.”
